Utility Locate Technician

A Utility Locate Technician will locate and paint underground utilities at the request of the Diggers Hotline.

This request can be sent by homeowners or contractors. The Utility Locate Technician position primarily

works independently and requires a self-motivated individual that carries themselves in a professional

manner. Experience is preferred for this position but is not necessary. GLS Utility is an equal-opportunity

Job Duties:

  • Work independently
  • Maintain safety procedures
  • Identify and mark underground utilities accurately
  • Coordinate with teammates to work together to complete projects
  • Communicate with contractors and homeowners
  • Respond to emergencies as needed in your assigned area during work hours
  • On-call rotation for after-hours emergencies
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Read and interpret utility maps

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs
  • This position requires employees to work outdoors in all weather
  • You must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Must have the ability to walk for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to walk on common terrain (ditches, long grass, gravel, etc.)
  • Average computer proficiency
  • Ability to drive long distances on occasion
  • Strong work ethic
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening as requested by employer

GLS Utility provides one-on-one training with an experienced technician, as well as classroom learning.
